That also looks like a diffraction horn on top. If so it's mounted wrong. A diffraction horn's widest dispersion is across the narrowest dimension. If the HF is not a diffraction horn, it's horrible. Not tall enough.

It looks like a Smith horn on top. I've only seen them mounted horizontally. The whole thing has the look of a Japan only JBL effort.

Sure they get turned horizontally, but that one just isn't done right, no baffles in the throat. It therefore is NOT a Smith horn, it is a diffraction horn.
It's Japanese, I really doubt JBL would have done it like that.
I stick by the last line in my last post. An exercise in pretty by somebody who doesn't know a lot about speakers.

Tad driver, but it's a Pioneer, thus consumer oriented. And not any TAD HF horn I have ever seen. If you can provide info where these were marketed as TAD I'd like to see it. I have seen other Exclusives, they have always been Pioneer. Before someone points out Pioneer owns TAD, GM owns Cadillac. Doesn't make a cheap Chevy into a Cadillac.
Sorry I just plain do not like that horn.
